The 2025 Beanpot finale promises to be an unforgettable night of hockey. While Northeastern and Harvard battle to end their tournament on a high note, Boston College and Boston University renew one of the sport’s greatest rivalries in a championship showdown that is sure to be electric. With history on the line, the stage is set for a thrilling conclusion to this year’s tournament.

Championship Showdown: Boston College vs. Boston University

One of the fiercest rivalries in college hockey will take center stage Monday night as Boston College and Boston University clash for Beanpot glory. This marks the 23rd time the schools have met in the final, with BU holding a slight edge at 12-10 in previous title games.

The last time these two powerhouses faced off for the Beanpot championship was in 2016, a game that saw BC claim a thrilling 2-1 overtime victory. For Boston University, the drought stretches back to 2007, when they last defeated BC in the final, also in a 2-1 overtime thriller.

The magnitude of this matchup isn’t lost on the players. BU junior Ryan Greene summed it up best: "You can’t write it up any better. It’s going to be awesome. The Beanpot is the best atmosphere I’ve ever played in, so having it be BU-BC, it'll probably be crazier than what I've experienced."

BU head coach Jay Pandolfo echoed the sentiment: "It's a great tournament to begin with, and getting the BU-BC final makes it that much more special."

Boston University leads the all-time series between the programs, holding a 140-136-21 advantage over Boston College. The two schools have combined for an astounding 51 Beanpot titles, with BU leading the way with 31, while BC has claimed 20.

Consolation Game: Northeastern vs. Harvard

For the first time since 2017, the Northeastern Huskies find themselves outside the championship spotlight. The nine-time Beanpot winners endured a brutal 8-2 loss to Boston College in the semifinals, a humbling defeat that underscored their struggles this season. Still, the Huskies have a chance to salvage some pride in the third-place matchup.

Their opponent, Harvard, suffered an equally punishing semifinal loss, falling 7-1 to Boston University. The Crimson have now failed to reach the final in five of the last six tournaments, highlighting their Beanpot woes. Adding to the challenge, Harvard has not won a consolation game since 2019.

The two teams last met in a Beanpot final in 2023, when Northeastern secured the championship in a dramatic shootout. With both squads coming off lopsided defeats, expect them to come out hungry for redemption when they hit the ice at 4:30 p.m. ET.
