The Eurovision Song Contest 2025 marks the 69th edition of the annual event and is currently underway in Basel, Switzerland. The country earned hosting rights after Nemo’s win in the 2024 contest with the song “The Code.” Organized by the European Broadcasting Union (EBU) and Switzerland’s national broadcaster SRG SSR, this year’s competition is being held at St. Jakobshalle. The event features two semi-finals on May 13 and 15, followed by the grand final on May 17, 2025. Hosting duties are shared by Hazel Brugger and Sandra Studer, with Michelle Hunziker joining them for the final.
Following Switzerland’s victory in the 2024 contest, Geneva’s local authorities promptly showed interest in hosting the 2025 edition at Palexpo, submitting an official application. That same day, Conradin Cramer, president of the Basel-Stadt government, also voiced Basel’s interest in becoming the host city. Shortly after, on 12 May, Olma Hall in St. Gallen was put forward as another potential venue for the event.
